Cathy Wilson and Don McLarty (skip) were the only team to go through the rounds undefeated so certainly deserved their place in the Final. Jo Jones subbed for Betty-Anne Cleveland and paired with skip George Lindsay.
The match couldn’t have started off better for Cathy and Don, winning the first set convincingly 2/9.
The second set promised much of the same, holding a 5/2 lead after 3 ends and looking like winning the 4th with another bonus point (4 shots or more).
But then it all changed with George converting that with a weighted bowl that scattered the head and winning it ,with a bonus point , followed by another bonus point on the next end and winning the set 6/5.
The 3-end tiebreak brought an end apiece, with the deciding end looking like a win to Cathy and Don until George pulled off the miracle (and a bit lucky!) last bowl to win the final .
Thank you to all 4 players for a very entertaining Final, and of course, congrats to the sub Jo, Betty-Anne and George on their win. It just goes to show you can never say die in this great sport of bowls!
